We’ve Expanded
For the past 13 years, a tiny climbing gym at Stellys High School has made an enormous impact on the lives of many youth in our community. We have helped children overcome obstacles, increase their confidence, and stay fit. Run by a non-profit society, we’ve provided an alternative way for youth to experience adventure in their spare time. But we were bursting at our seams, with too much demand and too little space. So we expanded, and opened up to the public during evenings and weekends. This public use of the facility supports our groundbreaking community and school programs, including physiotherapy programs and programs for students with special needs.
Thanks to generous donors and community support, we opened 4300 square feet of new climbing space on November 5, 2005. We’ve added a lead climbing wall, dedicated bouldering space, and a belay track over the bouldering area for use in physiotherapy. The pictures don’t do our new space justice – you’ll have to come down and see for yourself.
